2 inch lift
So i have decided to do a 2 inch lift on my beast. But looking at the options for the lift on the back i find i have three. 1. is a add a leaf 2. a block on the axel and 3. is a two inch shackle on the rear spring. Which one would you recommend and why. I am new to the 4 wheel drive game.

i would say go with the shackle. alot of people have had bad luck with the aal because they sag after a short amount of time and blocks let your axle wrap. best bet would be get a new set of rear leaves for your heep.

I agree, shackles. That way when it comes to the time where you cannot stand being at only 2", and yes it will come whether you deny it or not, you can reuse the shackles with the new lift. AAL's increase spring rate, hence giving you a rougher ride. Blocks change nothing, but increase spring wrap, which is very noticeable on old worn leaf springs. Shackles lower the rear leaf attachment point and slightly alter the pinion angle and can invert old leaf springs. As you can see, all lift the vehicle but have some negative effects but the best out of the three is the shackle setup. Check out Rough Country's shackles. $50 something shipped and adjustable from 1.5- 2 inches of lift. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/showth...table+shackles |
I'm new too and i was thinking about adding a 2" or 3" to my 1999 xj sport. But i don't want to spend alot of money. What would be the best lift i can have while still saving money? and do i need new shocks with a 2" lift?

Bronco Coils or F150 coils should give you around 2", its hit or miss with junkyard lifts. 2" Spacer and 2.5" Shackles. Extra Half inch leaves room for leaf sag. |

However a 2" shackle only provides 1" of lift because your only lifting one side of the leaf pack

i have a 2inch shackles in back and it feels great. im going to get a 1inch lifted leaf spring package cuz i think the rears are a little saggy, but blocks and add-a-leaves are uncomfortable and stiff. i sell a lot of different lifts and i get the best feedback for the 2" shackles for time money and quality. also, s-10 leaf packages are supposed to give you 3-4" lifts and 79-8something f150 coils give you 2-3 in front.

Grand cherokee springs out of a V8 are supposed to be a couple inches as well Im told. Ive also been told dodge durango leafs are good for three inches. Can anyone confirm this? Im planning on going for around 2-3" myself using springs. |
