okay so i have a 4.0 out of a 1998 jeep cherokee with a Ax15 tranny. would it be possible to put that in a jeep j10 truck? with the dana 30 and dana 35 axles and still be able to pull 31s?

 

The j10 is a heavy beast. the 4.0 will make plenty of power to move it around. Definately more than the stock 4.2 found in some of those trucks. ax15 will handle the power. but I wouldn't run the dana 30 and 35 under it. brakes are inadequate, and they just arent meant to handle much more weight than a small 1/4 ton unibody truck.

is the j10 missing the factory dana 44's or something. a drivers side drop dana 44 from a newer j10 is a direct bolt in iirc, if you want to get the differential on the right side to match the np231 behind the ax15.
