Default $1000 lift and 4 tires, is it possible?

I have a stock XJ, trying to lift it 3" (no more than 4") and put new tires on my stock wheels (30-31"). I will be doing the work myself (first lift, but many other in depth auto repairs).

I don't know the longevity of the bastard packs. Since it will be a lot of work (lift newbie), I only want to do it once. I'm thinking new spring pack because of this, but if I can't aford all for the $1000 cap, please let me know.

Any specific suggestions? I know I'll need a t case drop (being I have a 99") and shocks (don't want it to ride like sheite).

Want to get as close to the $1000 being spent (meaning, have a solid set-up) if I can, and have it done right once.

Thanks guys.

You can do it just get used tires with good tread on them or military tres...

Good luck sorry that I don't have time to explain what all is needed.

Rough country 3 inch lift = $255

Treadwright tires are retread tires, This company has very very good reviews and i have seen ppl use them off road.

https://www.treadwright.com/p-12-31-...d-dog-m-t.aspx

Or u can buy brand new tires for around $700 for 4. Or can can get some rly good deals on craigslist.

If you go with the rc lift and tw tires u will be spending like $700 and have a little extra for somthing else.

If you order your rc lift ask about the 10% discount for being a member on this website and also ask about free shipping.

You have to cruise Craigslist and the classifieds here. I scored zj v8 front springs here for $20, 2" spacers here for $20, 3" r.c. long aal in newish leaf packs (no sag) for $75, 4 shocks with 3k miles on them for $75. Craigslist got me a new r.c. adj. track bar for $80, 4x 31-10.5-15s for $150, and a full size spare 31, with wheel for $20. The deals are out there, just have to find them.

this is your best bet. it will use up every bit of that $1000, but everything will go on in a day. the JYlifts are a headache of wrenching and rewrenching. n craiglist tires are used.

big $$$ can be saved but it in exchange for your time.

My 1st lift was 3.5" with a bastard pack in the rear. I liked it alot and now its on my gf's jeep with no sag in the rear after 2yrs. Dont shy away from them if your on a budget. Might be alittle more elbow grease but it is cheaper. 3.5" lift can easily be done for $200-250

To be honest, I didn't even think about the classifieds here. That is a great idea. I also forgot, do I need a SYE and driveshaft (used frnt cherokee one)? 3" isn't too much, but I don't want any vibes.

I never knew about retreads, that's great. I don't want to do the AAL kit, my leafs are 140K miles and almost inverted.

I will start crusing the classifieds here. I've been looking localy for CL for the tires.

TheJerm-thanks for the response. That's great to have it still not sag after 2 years. I'd be happy with that! Which leaf did you use, S-10? Do you remmeber how many leaves of the pack you did end up using?

I also want to know, how do you spot a "good" donor leaf pack? Is it just if it doesn't look saggy, it's GTG?

My bastard pack was XJ main/whole s-10 pack underneath it but will vary with leafs that you get and use. Original XJ had 200K+ on it but suspension looked fresher.

What I did, this depends on the junk yards you have around you, but i went out into the yard found some s10's and blazers to look at what the leaf packs look like. Then found a good looking set on the rack of already pulled parts. Then its all about negotiation after that

You wont need a sye or dv. You might need an adjustable track bar.
http://www.rocky-road.com/xjtrackbar.html just bought this one. If you ever decide you wanna go bigger you will be able too with this one

check my build thread in sig for prices and info.

I added it up not to long ago and Ive put around $1500 into my jeep but that includes purchase, all the maintenance, all the new front steering parts and the lift.

so yes it can definitely be done especially only going 3 inches.

coils $100
shocks $130
JY bp, new u bolts, clamps, $70 OR at autozone they have a shackle set fr $36 that will do 3", prolly be better for u
t case drop $25
adj track bar (got mine for $55)
bend ur brake lines and relocate brackets

probably replace tre's and whatever else it needs. then tires can be had for all prices.

then u might want to get lower control arms, sway bar disconnects and other goodies

OMG those tires look awesome and $105?! each?

u guys say they are good?
