1 ton steering setup... Which one. need help

1 ton steering setup... Which one. need help
So I have a 1988 jeep comanche 4x4,4.0. the tie rods need replacing and I need a alignment. I want to get rid of the "Y" steering set up and I'm looking at 1 ton steering upgrades, So far I have came across Seriousoffroad.com's set up and JCR's. they both look very similar to me. Whats the different between the two. I do not want to run the over the knuckle set up. Just the regular one will work for me. I do see that both kits require reaming the knuckles and pitman arm. How much of a task is this. I am also concerned with diff cover clearance, I plan on running a aftermarket on in the future but I don't know which on will clear tie rod or not.
Please give input if you have had experience with this set up and in you have good insight on my plans, or if you know of other options besides the ones listed for a 1 ton steering upgrade.
And last both kits are very expensive, I am prepared to drop some cash but would like to save as much as I can.

I went with Serious UTK, comes with sleeves so you don't have to buy a expensive taper reamer, just need to get it to a 7/8" hole. You need a 1/2" drill motor and a few drills and googles, metal chips will be flying.

I just did my JCR UTK set up this past weekend. If you don't have the proper tools it is a chore.
Some advice if you go with it:
- Don't skimp out on the drill bits. Get some awesome 5/8 and 11/16 (rare size) steel cutting drill bits ahead of time. Don't get some crummy Menards or Home Depot BS.
- Use a quality Reamer, 7 degree 1/2-1".
- Take your time and drill slow and straight otherwise your bits will be smoked.
- If you have an upgraded pitman arm you are in for a treat. It took me a ridiculous amount of time to drill mine. Get a bit sharpener if you have one.
Overall, the steering is amazingly solid. Well worth it if you decide to go JCR. If you have any other questions just PM me your number and I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have.

+1 on the safety goggles. Long sleeves and gloves as well. Smokin hot chips will fly everywhere.

I got the JCR steering kit. It is beefy and the install wasnt too bad! just have to be careful with the drill and check your reaming alot! dont go to big or off angle. both the kits are solid and reasonably priced i guess its just personal prefferance

I read good things about Currie Steering link but it's pretty expensive ($450).
Sorry for my ignorance but none of them (JCR, SO) need a steering stabilizer?

I offer brackets to attach a steering stabilizer but you should install the kit and try it out before buying it though.

One comes with tapered (I.D) inserts that require you to drill the knuckles and pitman arm to 7/8".
The other requires that you buy/rent/borrow,steal a tapered reamer that matches the Chevy TRE's (1.5" per foot taper).
