I would say try to find a wire feed mig welder. we use a lincoln 220v 175 wire feed for everything up to 1/4" then a stick welder for anything bigger. if you get lucky and tack your time you can find deals on them our wire feed welder cost us $300.

harbor freight has wire feed welders for $99 or $119. Great for if you are just starting out.

Walmart in federal way is clearing out all their welding stuff. Other stores might be to.

Other wise a Harbor Freight welder is a cheap startup welder. I use their 90amp flux core welder with Lincoln flux core wire and am starting to get some decent welds (self taught). If you do get a hf welder buy the protection plan its another $20 but they will give you a new one if anything stops working, I'm on my second one but for $90 I'm not complaining.

Or drop some serious $ and buy a Lincoln or Miller :-)

I currently have a hf flux welder. Works pretty decent. Is recommend one of those. If not a you can pick up a Lincoln at home depot for not too much.

Best one I found

Seems you CL market is a little dry.

Honestly, with a low budget I'd go get the HF mig with their warranty or save and get something a bit better (Lincoln, Hobart, Miller)

I think Craftsman makes MIGs, sears has layaway....

I'd say so. But I don't know what amperage it is. I think you'd at least want 120 for 1/4" , may want to research some more, new to welding myself.
