OK all seems we have enough interest to start a planner for a Traverse City / Kalkaska / Grayling Trail run..
So first off I know the area rather well, so getting in alot of fun won't be hard.
We need to look at a date and # of days.
I'd like to do something late April/early May..
Maybe say a 2 day run?
Thoughts input, than we can do up some kinda poll if need be..

I think early May would be good. It'd be warmer, and my last day of college this semester is April 30th. If interested, we can venture into Houghton Lake as well, I know that area pretty good.

Most all trails in MI can be done on a stock XJ, just choose your lines.
And I'm a good one for showing beginners/stockers the lines to run..

Yes they are..
I wouldn't be planning a trail run if it was illegal..
There are 100's of miles of seasonal roads. And most are so primitive that there fun.
I also want to do a trip over to Range 40 at Camp Grayling. Thats a super fun area to explore and play. Plus if there is training going on you can get to the edge of the range to see bomb range. And that's so cool..
I have alot of maps of the area that covers tons of "roads"..

So if your thinking of a 2-day run. Do you plan on maybe camping somewhere then?

Fire roads, seasonal road and privative roads for the most part are the same thing.
Now we can do 1 of a few things making it a few day run.
a) - motel in Kalkaska and than we could have a meeting room
b) - State camp ground (nice one is at Gurnsy(sp) Lake {Kalkaska area})
c) - I have a "in" with a private camp ground in Fredric Very nice with good prices
Bang for buck I think Fredric would be best and I think I can get a discount if we have more than 5 campers and I book ahead.

Ok so camping it is..
Does anyone have a issue of camping in Fredric? They have running water, flush toilets, showers and we can also have electricity at the camp site. Plus I can prob get the best rate there..
