Just a FWIW
Nice sunny, dry, warm day so...
fired up my XJ (in Winter hibernation) for the first time in a couple months or so for a spin. Put a couple hundred miles on it.
Just touching the key, it started instantly, didn't even hear the starter grind.
I got to say out of all my vehicles including my 2016 F150 with all its modern fancy gadgets, i enjoy driving the XJ the best.

Success! We're the opposite. My XJ hibernates during good weather only coming out on the weekends just to keep it going, so I don't have to worry about it. Winter is when it gets all it's daily driver duty.

I hear you robertj.
My XJ was also a daily driver in all seasons for the first few years after i bought it.
Later, picked up a '94 Ford ranger 2WD 4 lunger stick for the long 140 mi. haul to work and back in decent weather. Back then, my XJ was drafted for the snowy weather only.
These days i've got a '14 4x4 Jeep Patriot and a Ford F150 4x4 for Winter driving.
Trying to keep the rust down on my XJ from the Winter salty slush on the roads here.
So far, so good as its got minimal rust. Thank you under coating!

Mine hibernates during most of the week as well. I'm a service tech and drive my service van home at night. So I don't really have a "daily driver" per se.
I love on weekends, taking it out around the town running errands. It's funny, I never really thought an old Jeep would turn heads. I guess there are a lot of jeep fans in my area.

How do you like the Patriot? My wife has a '16 Patriot 4x4, and I really like driving it. It's a lot of peace of mind for me too, because I won't worry so much if she has to drive in the snow.

Bought it new couple years ago.
First year for the 6 speed tranny so i was a little leary buying it at first.
Its definitely under powered with a lot of road noise although there are no creeks or rattles unlike my old '94 XJ. I basically bought the Patriot for the gas mileage, 4x4 and the Jeep emblem on it. lol
I've got about 32k miles on it now and it has been trouble free and had zero warranty work done on it so far.
