You know I love all things Jeep, they each have their special place in the world. We even have an 05 Libby, chipped and chilled. However when I came out of the auto hardware store and a new Lib was parked beside me, I did think the overall styling was rad. I also thought the front suspension was limiting from a build up perspective. What I couldn't accept was the lighting setup below the front bumper with the air dam down in the weeds and the blasphamy of the "Trail Rated" badge on the front quarter. It just wasn't right.

Didn't the Liberty replace the Cherokee XJ? I know the 02-07 didn't look at all like the XJ but the 08-11 looks almost the same as the XJ.

Almost has the same Interior spots as the 97-01 Cherokee.

I think if I ever got one, it be a red one, Brand new 2011, but it has a 3.7L engine and I still like the XJ more.

To be funny, it looks like an XJ that gained weight, Bigger bumper, fenders, flairs.

Perhaps Chrysler intended the Libery to replace the XJ within a marketplace. The target market for the XJ was never "offroad". They just happened to have some good parts and the overall construction was capable of accepting owner development. The XJ has limits too. Why do we constantly discuss more major mod requirements when we want to go 33" tires and beyond. The Libby platform is just not the same. You can pop up 2". On a Lib that is the mod limit. Beyond requires major work and parts.
Both the XJ and the Lib are SUV market products. The XJ happens to be the trail breaker (of course all SUV products by all manufacturers since have been styling copy knockoffs), the XJ construction has just proven more viable to development.
