Default XJ Trailer Hitch?

Anyone have or could get photos of their factory-installed 1984-1987 trailer-hitch(s)? Rear and undercarriage?

I'm thinking the previous owner may have had one installed and removed... Help?

You want a picture of someone's factory trailer hitch, for what?

If the previous owner removed it, you can always install your own like I did.

Fair question.

I was rolling around under the XJ and in the rear I found these dangling bolts hanging loose thru holes in the frame; No washers/nuts… And what appears to be two mounting plates on the frame where something was connected to.

I checked the build-sheet and don’t find an entry for a hitch.

My understanding that factory hitches are rare on XJ's.

Thus... The reason for the question.

There should be three bolts on the driver side for sure. Depending on where and when the Jeep was made, there might be weld nuts on the inside of the passenger side of the unibody frame where the bolts go in threaded-side-up. If not, there should be three bolts dangling from that side as well.

Most are aftermarket, although I'm sure a trailer hitch was a factory option at the time.

I'm thinking the dangling bolts may be from an aftermarket installation... Photo attached. Then there are those pesky plates too... I know not what for! Photo attached.

More thoughts?

Yes, the first picture is where a hitch mounts.

The second picture used to be the OEM bumpstops before they rusted in half.
