WJ grille guard?
I have a 2000GC Limited. Want to build a grille guard. But I have noticed that all manufactured ones all bolt where the tow hooks mount. OK! But pretty weak if that is the only point of mounting. Is there another place to bolt to for more support? My wife won't let me hack the front of our only vehicle. But if I could get to another point on the frame to bolt it to this should make it stronger. She doesn't want another bumper put on it which would make this easier to install or build. I have some 1/2 inch steel plate to make the side plates. And I have the tubing I need to weld in between the sides plates. Lots of deer get hit here and I have come close a few times , so am trying to protect the front of the rig.Trying to build one that won't come back into vehicle when hit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Honestly your better off with no brush guard the whole design is just for show nothing more.Between the mounting u shape design and the thickness of material.Try talking the wife in to a real off road bumper for it show her some like http://www.protofab4x4.com/products.php?ID=06 http://www.quadratec.com/products/12000_7001_07.htm
Those are some nice bumpers, but it would take one paycheck to get one. Guess I'll look at building one myself. Or look for another mounting point for the grille guard. Thanks for the site! It gave me some ideas to think about.
Something a little cheaper http://custom4x4fabrication.com/front_wj.htm http://www.logansmetal4x4.com/jegrchwj.html
