Default Winter driving

Ok so I have a 98 xj that is pretty much rust free. I have had it a while but never drove it in winter. Came from Arizona and only has one spot on the drivers door. Any one else drive there rust free Cherokee in the winter where they lay down salt? Just curious and it would make me feel better about driving it this winter as much as I hate to. But it is SO tempting since it would be unstoppable in snow.

Why don't you just make sure the underside is properly coated to prevent rust? Run it!

It does have some undercoating already. Might have to add some more. It's more the rockers and things that I'm worried about.

It's more of a daily driver for me than anything. Been babied it's whole life and never really been off-road.

Plastidip is rubberized and can be removed later on.The trick is to put on a lot of coats 6 as a minimum.Or if you wanted you could even two tone the jeep and do the lower half in plastidip.

I have messed with it a little bit. Not really worried about the paint as much as the rust which would be from the inside out. Thanks

Hit the inside of the rockers with something like Eastwood Internal frame coating or fluid-film to prevent rust from the inside out (works well for the frame rails too).

Also make sure all the drain holes are clear.

Ok I will check on that. How could you get to the inside of the rocker? Is there holes that access the rockers? I can't remember

There should be access holes under the plastic sill covers.

All I do is make sure to wash the underbody after driving on roads where salt has been used. In fact if I don't feel like doing it by hand (best way) there are 2 auto car wash's in my small town that wash underneath as you pull into the stall. None of my cars or trucks have any rust issues on them for this very reason, I wash the undercarriage's on them.

I'm in Quincy often my brother-in-law lives there and another one lives in Hannibal, I'm sure they have car wash's there that do the same.

Drive it, wash it, enjoy. It's a jeep cherokee, not a 67 jaguar, it was designed for bad conditions. You just have to wash it and spend extra time in the wheel wells and underside.
