why is my gas tank so small

Default why is my gas tank so small

ok so i have an 88 cherokee laredo 2 door with 4.0 ba 10/5 trans 231 t case dana 30/35 axles and 3.07/1 gears and apperantly a 12 gallon tank!!!!! i have never seen another cherokee with this small of a tank was this some sort of option or sadistic choice of the origonal owner ? i really hate filling up every two days or so

its rare but they do exist. I'm sure the larger tank would be a straightforward swap.

Yeah, that was available from the factory. Shouldn't be much trouble to swap the 20 gallon tank in it.

shouldnt be hard to swap for a bigger one i have to swap my tank out cause its smashed and have change three off my dads and freinds pretty striaght forward

I have the same jeep, just an auto, and if I run the gauge down to just touching the E and fill up its around 13.5 gal, but I do fill the filler neck. I am puttin a new 20 gal tank in, not only cause I fill up every 3 days but its still an 88 and most likely it's filled with crap
