Default why did you lift your jeep

I always thought this to be an interesting topic. for me it has always been function over form, lifting it made room for bigger tires which make axle clearance which is your lowest point, so for me it was the least lift and the largest tire.
I see a lot of people with 4" lifts etc, with 31's. (nothing against anyone)
so why did you lift yours

mine almost killed us when it was stock. last winter, me and my wife went to Ft. Lee to do some after Christmas shopping. on the way back it was raining and i was going about 45mph. and all of a sudden, out of nowhere it started snowing. i didn't even get a chance to slow down when the jeep started sliding. it did about 2 360's and landed in a ditch. i put it in 4 low and i couldn't even move it an inch. so, i decided that it need some ground clearance and some decent thread, since the tires were junk and the rear leafs were collapsed. needless to say, i regularly take it through spots 2-3 times worse than the one that i got stuck in. besides it just looks beefy.

I lifted mine because a stock XJ has trouble climbing the hood of ricers that cut off us in traffic thinking that they own the road. We just have to prove to them that life is not limited to roads.

This is my third Jeep, but the first one that I could actually buy a good lift for it. For the past 3-4 years, I always wanted to have a lifted Jeep. So, I do it for the look, but I do wheel it, so that way I'll be able to go in more trails.

P.S.: Chicks dig it too

Funny you mention that....A freakin' honda cut me off on the highway this afternoon. It made my wife freak. (no she wasn't driving, I was) It didn't scare me that much because if he would have been closer, he would have probably done more damage to his car then mine....
