Why TO buy an XJ
I am pretty new to these trucks. Is truck even the right word for them?
My sister had a 90 2x4 I worked on off and on for a couple of years and I ended up with a 90 from an auction that was a rebuilt salvage titled truck.
4.0/automatic with 3.55 gears
So far I am happy with it. Had to go through and fix several things and a bunch still needs fixed but I am happy with the truck. It has AC so that is one thing I love.
I am a Ford man at heart. Have owned a 71 F100 for32 years now that my pop bought new. It now has a 460/C6 and is very fun the drive. I like the XJ as a second every day driver.
I get 19 MPG with it and can't understand while people fuss about the pore mileage. I guess since mine is stock with 235-75-15" tires and stock gears maybe I get better than the lifted rigs.
I have not ever been off road with it yet since my tires are pretty thin and I don't trust them. Then again I have about $500 in my XJ with a little bit of work that I was owed money for from my sister which is how I ended up with it.
Interior is still nice. It is a Laredo with power seats on both sides, overhead console with everything working. Has the transfer case with the low range and the full time and part time 4 wheel drive in it also.
I like my little Jeep.
Gets better gas mileage than I am used to and actually has a working AC in it.
SO lets counter the other thread and state why we like our XJ's

Truck is not good for an XJ. Jeeps are one thing, seperate from Trucks and SUV's. XJ's have their own seperate class lol. As for owning them, XJ's will never let you down if you take care of them. I bought my XJ last October, and it bashed through the winter with 4 ft snows and everything. However, early into spring, I started seeing the abuse from the PO surface, but I nursed the ol girl back to health. Now, she runs stronger than before, and I even plan on tossing a Reman engine when the current one dies, and a Brand new AW4. IMHO, XJ's are the best vehicles ever created.. I even pray sometimes that God have an XJ waitin for me in heaven lol.

I always referred to mine as the "Jeep", but it really is a station wagon. (look on your title) I inherited mine from my mother. She was the second owner. I'm the third. I have all the paperwork for it since it's birth. Right now it's at 68k. So I'll be owning it for a long, long time.
