I went to local 4wd store and pointed me to $500-600 baskets !!! I thought they were like $200-350 ! What are the best ones too ? I just wanted one to free up space in the back where spare tire is....

Go to lowes and buy some "EMT" conduit. They sell rounded 90 degree corners. For the bottom of rack, measure and flatten the last inch or so and attach with self tappers. If you have a welder it is even better.

Thanks guys ! I was thinking of what else I could spend $500 on instead of this roof rack basket at 4wd parts store.

Are these universal ? Will they hold the weight of a 235/75/r15 factory spare tire?

That would be the best way. Use Gutter mounts they would work the best. Don't worry about the gutters they will be fine. And if you don't feel like making your own JCR makes some cheap ones. Here's a link to there's.

The Rage Black Widow is really good for the price. Used to have one and loved it.

The mounting hardware they send with it sucks. So, I bought some flat brackets and 1/2" hardware from the Home Depot electrical section. Brackets "sandwich" the rack to the cross rails. Worked great. I stood on top of it that way, hauled camping gear, a spare tire, bunch of fire wood - pretty much anything I wanted and it never moved. Cheap, simple, and effective way to mount it. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Yup. Never had an issue. I was actually pretty surprised how strong it actually turned out to be. I weigh about 190 and I could stand on it just fine.
