::Where did your XJ come from?::
I was looking through the sequential XJ thread and it got me thinking. Where did my XJ originally come from? I bought it used a year ago from the second owner.
It still had the business card of the dealership it came from in Colorado. I called them up and asked them if they had any records of mine.
Sure enough, they did.
The guy said in their computer file they had reports on all the ordered cars.
Mine was ordered in January of 1999 by the State Forestry in Colorado or something like that. It was ordered to be super cheap so it could be a rescue vehicle or something up in the mountains.
It was ordered with only three options...
1. Four Wheel Drive
2. Air conditioning ( for the hot summers in the mountains i am guessing)
3. Power Mirrors ( so they didn't have to roll them down in the winter to move the mirrors for different drivers)
This explains why it had only those options and did not come with power locks or windows.
And luckily why it came with the AX-15 manual transmission
Well the guy told me that it was never actually sold to this person that ordered it so it sat at the dealership for a while until it was sold the a dealer in Arkansas. Where it was bought from the guy I bought it from last year.
And now it is mine (hopefully forever, I love this thing!!)
So now share where your came from if you are the original owner of if you bought it used like me.
You might be surprised what you find out!

My '99 SE was originally owned by the Missouri Dept of Corrections but it doesn't have the police package. It was sold at a state auction in '09 to a dealer which I bought it from. So technically I'm the third owner but only the second one to use it. It was really well maintained. It must have been parked inside because there's practically zero rust and the paints in good shape.

Bought mine 3 1/2 years ago from a guy that knew NOTHING about XJ's. The tranny was shot, T-case didn't engage, He put in 3.55 gears totally screwed them up, BUT the body was in great condition.
So I bought it and replaced EVERYTHING. Motor, tranny, gears, locker, driveshafts, lift, brakes, tires, He owned it 2 weeks and messed up more then he fixed. OH and he broke the driver's side window motor and I fixed that too.
I am the third owner and the first owner was an elder couple that pretty much never drove it.
Made in 1989 November bought in 1989 December. They year and month my wife was born hahahaha. I'm only 23 and she's 21 so it's not weird lol
