Default Where can I find a motor to rebuild in MI?

So the motor I had in storage that I thought I would be able to rebuild turns out is not an option. I could probably make it work but it's probably not worth it. So my question is where can I find a rebuild able motor in the Michigan area? Where do you guys look for 4.0's? Junkyard? Door knocking? The one I am running right now is ok but it's pretty tired. I'd like to have one on the stand to rebuild so that I don't have an immobilized vehicle while working on it. Thanks!

Start hitting your local yards and getting a price. Get the best price from a few yards and then try to get the other yards to beat that price. U dont need any accesorys so thats going to save you some coin. Most yards dont consider it a complete motor when someone got the compressor or other accesorys off of it. Find one thats missing a bunch of stuff and make an offer. You would be suprised what they will take sometimes. Just make sure u do a compression test before u fork over the cash.

Are you building a project? I have a good running 4.2 I would sell ya. I live near the Ohio, Michigan boarder. Other than that, theres a place called CF offroad in Michigan, there number is 810 650-3206. They have tons of parts. And in Toledo, there is ****** overland motors, done know their number, but their online. They also have tons of parts.

There are two Parts Galore pick and pull junkyards around Detroit and one south of the city. It would probably be worth the trip to take a look. The Warren Ave. location typically has 10-15 XJ's and a few ZJ's.

When you go to the junk yard for an engine, its a gamble, could be junk.

What are you willing to spend on a good running motor? I'm looking at a good running parts truck and won't be needed the motor.

Moved to Chat.

I agree with a junk yard or CL.
