If the wheels have 4.00 of back spacing will they still stick out wider like wheels with 3.50 of back spacing?

 

Less backspacing means they stick out farther. Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface of the wheel to the edge. Take a straightedge and put it on the back of the wheel and measure to the flat surface of the bolt holes. There's your backspace.

They'll stick out 1.5 inches further than most stock xj wheels... Most oem xj wheels are 5.5 bs except the gamblers which are 5.25 inch bs...
