First two days:

- Took the interior out, and bolted in a sheet metal floor.
- Changed fluids and filters.
- Replaced fan clutch, put in a 180 degree thermostat and replaced the cracked, JB-welded thermostat housing.
- Replaced the wheel studs because each wheel had at least one broken.

Day three:

Went playing in the Pine Barrens.

I replaced my cable about 6 months ago, pulled the release today and just feels loose. Seems like the cable is disconnected where it connects at the hood. Any way to open the hood without the cable, tried removing the front grille and head light but no luck.
Thanks

Lay under it and reach up between the motor and radiator and you can grab the rod and pull it straight down to release the hood. Stick your arm up right between the two fans and you can feel it. Been opening my hood that way since I got my current XJ.

You can also unbolt two bolts behind the headlights, but it takes longer and it's a pain in the *** since you can't see the top bolt.

I got it dirt cheap because he said the 4wd was "weird sounding". so i changed all fluids, put new u-joints in, and had a 1,500$ rust free xj that has survived Moab

No carpet when I got it, so first off I swapped the rug from my wrecked Sport, along with the instrument cluster & fan shroud.

Next was all new front suspension and steering, and swapped the 33/12.5 MTs for 33/10.5 BFGs.

The laundry list went on from there obviously, lol, but those were the first items right outta the box.
