Full size Cherokee's are getting up in value, clean originals topping the list. Sounds like you may have a lead on a good one.
Check around on Craigslist, ebay and you'll start to see what the values on these are currently.
Few websites for you to check out:

I bought this old 77 Waggy 360 from an old man that had it sitting in his yard over 5 years for $1500. Pic is from the day I bought it and drove it home. It was my DD for around a year and then I had to move and couldnt take her with me. I sold it the day I put a 4 sale sign on it for $2500. The only upgrade I did was a new Holley carb (old one went bad). 4x4 wasnt working and Interior was a nightmare it was all there but everything was so old it was dried out and thr rug was bad headliner sagging etc. If the one your looking at is as good as you say it could be worth more than your bike. Full size 4x4's are going up in value.

Thanks guys I'd post pics but not sure how the jeep looks super clean has the 360 motor in it. Have looked at Craigslist and can't find anything out here to ever compare. eBay was kinda helpful found couple sold between 3k and 5k so if anyone knows how to post pics I'll post a few thanks.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, all things considered. One other thing though is what you plan on doing with the rig. If you planned on swapping a bunch of stuff out and beating the heck out of it in the end, it'd be a shame to do it with such a mint full size.
I'd do it just to drive it around town...but it'll cost you. It probably gets 10-12 MPG. (Barely any worse than the XJ) Knowing me....I'd end up beating the heck out of it anyway. I want another one when I am loaded with money and can do whatever I want.

Yeah if you can afford the gas or just dont care about the gas to have it as a DD or grocery getter then keeping it stock is fine just remember what it was made for. A lift and some 33's would make it look bada** and you dont have to go extreme on the wheeling just have some weekend fun in it. Its already poor on gas so why not wheel it.

I'm thinking stock for now just to keep it old school it will only be driven on weekends at most or pull my trailer with other toys. ( wife Rzr-s and my Honda xr's) can't promise won't lift it but.......never know. Can't daily drive work is 60 miles round trip boo that's what the xr is for lol
