the benefits of a cherokee out way the negatives of one. it doesn't get the best mileage but its quick, dependable, comfortable, lots of room, and has a great turning radius

If you live in Canada, Id look for the ultra rare 01 manual. Ive been looking for 5 years for one, and only found one. It sold hours before i found it. Almost cried. With 4500 bucks, you get an 01 with higher miles. Ive had two 84z (still have em both), two 85z, one 87, two 88s, an 89 Commanche, two 96s, one 99 and one 01. The two 84z and the 87 are proabably my favorite. The 87 has a factory 44 rear and 291,000 miles, but drives like has 150,000. well taken care of is what you want no matter what year. Though I do have a thing for the ones that have been around the block, driven Hard and put away wet.

I think Im gunna take a look at this one tomorrow:
http://fraservalley.kijiji.ca/c-cars...AdIdZ211225556
99 cherokee sport
205,000kms - 127,381 miles
White
Manual
stock
Asking $4200, but im sure I can talk him down a bit
Any suggestions on what I should check? Where to look for rust etc...
Edit: Also, how is that for mileage? Provided its been taken care of, should It have a fair bit of life left in it? Whats considered high mileage for the 4.0?

Well due to some unforseen bills, my budget has dropped from $4500 to $3000-$3500max... When it was $4500, there were a few nice 99 cherokees, but there are none that fit in my new budget. Jeeps really aren't that cheap here I guess. Can you recommend an older year I should look for (oldest - 96), that is still pretty well equiped. I dont need alot, its not gunna be going over hardcore stuff, mostly light trails, and camping. The most id likely do is a 3in lift and slightly larger rubber. Please dont suggest 99's anymore, I simply cant afford them now. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it.

There are quite a few late 80's cherokees for less than $2000, which would leave me with $1000-$1500 left to fix it up, lift etc.... Are any of those years any good? I dont care about styling, this will something I dont mind getting banged up. I just want something tough. Thoughts?
