My dad told me i cant take my '01 cherokee off road because its too nice of a vehicle and its my DD so he doesnt want me to ruin it, so from what ive found on craigslist is alot of decent xj's between $1000-$1500. Ill have to save up for a long time to get one but what should i look for in a off road cherokee?

 

One that's beat up for starters or else that will be to nice also lol

ill probably buy one already done up, but i just wanna make sure i know it has what i need to off road is all

 

What kinda terrain you gonna hit? Blue trails or black?
Like mud water rocks boulders

 

If you buy one that's already "done up" and you aren't mechanically inclined, you could be buying someone else's nightmare and/or lack of mechanical skill.

 

Just buy a quad...

 

I personally would buy one and fix it up the way you want it. Found my 92 on the back of a lot ,it needed tires,exhaust,shocks gave 1k for it .Little old lady had it ,traded it in, no rust never wrecker ,looked at it made them an offer and the rest is history.I did a RC 4.5 lift new spring packs, found the brand new tires and wheels on CL, slider, skids ,on ebay ,Now i have 3k in it drive it everyday 190k still going.. Had a lot of fun doing it, 2 of my sons also have XJ,s, They found them on CL. also.
