Default What Happened to B. Lee’s Offroad??

I’ve heard nothing but good things about his 3 link kits but It seems he’s been inactive on this site since 2017. Anyone whose still active (LOL) know the scoop on him? His website is still up but it just states he’s been hacked. It said the same thing last year when I checked It. I heard rumors he might of went under a different name but most say he closed shop completely. Who knows the gossip?

I was just about to post the same thing here. By all accounts a great guy with great products, but site still down and when you call the number it goes right to voicemail and the box is full. Very strange - how could a business survive basically being closed that long? Anybody know anything?

Nothing strange about it. This scenario plays out on boards like this all the time.
  1. UniqueCar Enthusiast Joe comes up with a great doodad.
  2. Shows it off on UniqueCar forum.
  3. Forum members ooh and aaaah over it.
  4. People start asking if Joe can make more.
  5. Joe sees a business opportunity.
  6. Joe starts taking orders via PM on the UniqueCar Enthusiast Forum.
  7. Sales are good, buzz is good, people are talking about his product.
  8. Joe sees big things. Sets up a website.
  9. Joe is now a Big Offroad Businessman!
  10. Joe has no real clue about running a business. He makes great DooDads, but doesn't know when he's over his head.
  11. Joe can't keep up. Joe's orders begin to lag.
  12. Joe's business goes belly up.
  13. Joe has $$$ in his eyes and thinks he's going to turn it around, so doesn't publicly admit defeat. Leaves his website up, but doesn't answer emails or phone calls, doesn't take any more orders.
  14. Sometimes, he doesn't even fill that last few dozen orders, leaving unhappy customers complaining on the various UniqueCar forums.
  15. Joe walks away from the entire UniqueCar world in shame. He even sells his own UniqueCar and buys an Oldsmobile.

I have seen this scenario play out more than a dozen times over the years. Sometimes it's big and splashy, sometimes it's small and few notice. I know of one case where one of these One Man Shows ended because the guy died. Hundreds of customers were left with payments made, but nobody to fill the order. The guy had no family to even sort out the mess.

That's why I am very careful about buying the latest DooDad by PM. I don't want to be one of those last few dozen customers that pay for a product that is never delivered.
