I went to ecology and found a 92 cherokee with 8.25 and a hp 30 i wanted the axles i asked the lady she said after taxes it would be about 400 each

 

holy crap, thats alot of coin, here in phoenix that 8.25 i've seen for as little as $100

 

I saw one on cl for 175 complete and they had a d30 with wasted gears for 75 i should have gotten them but had no cash at the time now im kicking my slef

 

i see you are in san diego. which ecology did you go to? at the santa fe springs ecology that i go to axles have consistently been $200 ea. on a regular day and $100 on half off day. i've bought many from that yard and those prices have been very consistant. whatever ecology you went to is trying to rip you off

 

Craigslist, picked up a D30HP for $100 & an 8.25/29 spline for $100. Junk yards are asking $300-$350 to start. Sometimes their up to $459-$500

 

San Diego yards are such ripoffs! And screw that guy that runs jeep911.

There is a place in lemon grove, the guy owns 3 junkyards out east on the border somewhere. Only deals with jeeps and 4x4's. he is a good guy and reasonable.

Well i found the guy with the 8.25 for 175 and the d30 the d 30 has no knuckles shafts or hubs just a housing and a wasted carrier set . Shoul;d i bother with the 30 ? I imagine its a hp with out the disco i have the disco now i dont mind that set up but i want the 8.25 to clean up and lock it so i can match the gears in the front and lock it

Ok well i called to define assemblie but aperantly no one can understand english so i think i am just going to get th ecomplete 8.25 and re dear my disco

 

Dont dick around with a disco axle, stay on the hunt a bit longer.
Type in cherokee parting on craigslist adn see if you can find anyone parting out a decent non vac HP30.

8.25s go for about 150 here, same for the 30s

 

why not? the cast section on the pass side makes for a way stronger uca mount than the utterly wimpy non disco one. swap in a full length shaft and seal and yer good to go.
