Not a "What I Did Today" post but a "What I Realized Today About My XJ" post.
I tried to take a picture but can't figure out how to turn off the flash on my digital camera and was to lazy to cover it with black tape.
So no picture cause they are all washed out and you can't see **** anyway.
Yeah I know.
So turned 177K today.
And realized how little I drive.
I have owned her for over 10 years now and bought her with 147+K.
You do the math.
Oh and she is the only vehicle I own.
LOL.

Purchased a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo on Wednesday. Rear brakes clacking and locking, so while waiting for parts - bought bulbs and just started getting it ready for inspection. Found out the factory off-road lights work, but need some lenses. In between just spent some time laying underneath and looking around. Underside is perfect. Sat inside a bit just running Qtips around the cracks cleaning. Later as the sun settled a bit, pulled her outside into the shade and pulled the back wheels and broke the rear drum brakes down. Leaking rear wheel cylinders but rather than another parts run today - decided to take an hour per side just brushing/wire wheeling rust off the rear brake plates and making it all shine. Very satisfying day with the Jeep.
Should have her ready for Texas inspection by Monday.

1991 XJ Legal
Even though the brakes are grinding, popping, and creaking...the Jeep is stopping well. Yesterday got it's new Inspection, then got it registered and a new Title ordered. It's on the road legal and I just took it for a few really long drives today. Since it sat for about 10 months at the previous owner's home, I'm just trying to run some good gas & fluids through it. Also, went to charge the A/C today, but noticed the compressor is not engaging. Will look at that more tomorrow. Ate at a small food place tonight, so I could admire my Jeep in the parking lot.

As soon as I can, I'm going to install a plasma rifle in the 40 watt range for use against the people with the crap blinding headlights. Probably the DMV will figure this headlight thing out and start impounding vehicles before that, saving me the trouble.

Cause of the LED's not melting snow toying with doing the H4 thing I have read about.
Anyway, starting to wonder if people are driving around with their high beams on.
And I am talking about what I think are factory lights on newer cars.
Cause some of these are blinding.
Almost makes me think that I could drive around with my high beams on and nobody would even notice.
LOL.

h4 projector Morimoto's seem to work fine here and are only 35w.. I figure if they go south we can go back to glass and regular lamps.
They do not blind anyone on low beam.
I think the Carolina squatter trucks are even more of an issue with headlights blinding others.

Changed my upper radiator hose because the original one was leaking. Apparently the upper radiator hose changes for different years. I currently have a much longer one than I need on my XJ. The one that's the closest fit to my '92 XJ is from a '95 XJ.

I've always heard you are supposed to turn up the radio and ignore the clunks squeaks and grinds of an old beater.... Well this ole 94 needed a little bit more stereo to cover the noise.

I got my new to me tranny installed this week. For the first time in years it shifts easy into all gears and doesn't leak. Mechanic used ATF4+ and said it was what was called for, but I am slightly dubious. I thought Dex/Merc was prescribed? Anyways, this transmission shifts like butter now so
Also found and ordered a new pigtail for my oil pressure sensor so that my "check gauges" light can go off and I can read an oil pressure instead of being on zero...guess the old wires decided to give up the ghost.

Yes, read a LOT about the conversion and it seems like the way to go. Opened another thread just in case some ideas on servicing what I've got, but I think you are correct. Sad because the brakes work fantastic - just that darn popping & binding on take-off.
