The Platinum is the best one on the market right now. It's what Optima used to be before they moved production. I reluctantly spent the money based on the information I could find (through a lot of searching), and I'm very satisfied with the purchase. We've had single-digit temps here in Maryland the last couple days with a -1°F wind chill last night, and I've had no trouble starting. I even jumped the Gator at work cause somebody drained the battery, and we were listening to my stereo while jumping it.

~670 CCAs Group 34 is working fine for me in -30 weather with 5W40, albeit a bit slow. My own fault for running oil that thick lol.
Don't forget the condition and gauge of your battery cables and plays a huge factor. You need to be able to GET the power TO the starter in order to use it. Also whether or not your starter is packed full of sludge from leaking valve covers of olde...

I disassembled my starter and cleaned it out of all the sludge. Cleaned it, cleaned the contacts and made sure the brushes were right. It's not hard to do and will extend the life of the starter and battery.

Right on. My yellow top was the best there was when I stopped at the store on my way home after my previous died. Unfortunately I had no notice that my batt was going to die or I would have done more research first. Although during the negative mornings here in Co. it sounded a little strained but fired up strong when it did. But I do have to park on the street at well. And it was more expensive than the platinum!

Understandable. Mine was bought out of necessity and the best available at the time. I am pleased with it though. But next time I buy I would like replace with the best I can (hopefully not for a long time). Thanks for the info though

Just finished cutting and folding my rear fenders. Got it all hammered flat was gonna paint but its too cold. So I went to shut my hatch and it just bounced back. I looked at it and the catch is closed and will not open. Fooled with that for about 45 mins in 25* weather. Still can't get it to shut.

Got my rear bumper put back on after rattle can bed lining it. Trying to decide wether or not to put the bumper end caps back on since I took off the stock fender flares.
