What did you do to your Cherokee today?
I actually finished last night, but I was too tired to post. Chaned the transmission filter/screen and fluid, transfer case fluid and fluid in both axles.
Transmission fluid was not as bad as I was believing it would be, but it needed it. 198,000 miles and it is still strong and shifts very well. What more can I ask for?

A big shout out to those that have posted the detailed data on performing these procedures. Couldn't have done it without the knowledge and insight provided by you.
After a short trip this morning, I drained my antifreeze, and replace with filtered rain water. I will do this process every couple of weeks all summer to clean out the system. I read that 50/50 mix antifreeze uses
"soft water", rather than distilled water or tap water. I figure rain water would be as soft as I can get.....
When I added a water softener to my home, sludge came out of the water
tank, and lines for some time.

Short version: most "hard" water is the result of excessive calcium and lime from well water. "Softened" water essentially means you've added salt. You want as little crap as possible in your cooling system.
