If you really have a cooling problem in the heat use Water Wetter. It will drop your running temp by 10-15*. I ran it in my MK5 before I sold it, sucked in the winter time cuz the car would never get warm but it rocks in the summer.

...just added this to my
Amazon shopping Amazon shopping
list. Even with the caveats mentioned by reviewers, this seems like it might come in useful in certain conditions. Thanks for the heads-up!

But it deffinatly looks like a sweet fan set up!
I'm not worried about the alternator I've already swapped it out with the higher amperage alternator and I'm planning on putting a switch to all 3 fans so that way when I get in the deep bottom hole or some water I could shut them off

I started using it because it's not corrosive and my MK5 had a lot of aluminum in it. A lot of the turbo guys run it with straight distilled water (no additional coolant). I later added it in my 96 XJ because I had a gallon premixed and needed coolant. It really made a difference.

Spraying shock mount hardware with PB and tinkering with torque trying to get a close calculation of mpg

What did you do to your Cherokee today?-forumrunner_20130301_142155.jpg

Pretty darn accurate. And so is the instant mpg.

Your mechanical fan isn't going to turn very well once it's sunken to the hub lol. What would happen is really work the clutch and put a LOT of drag on the motor if you're in that deep. Any decent electrical fan should have some level of water proofing. In less water, the clutch will stay engaged and the blades get water everywhere. The big advantage of an all-electrical setup and water fording is that you can turn em off and reduce the amount getting sprayed all over your TPS.

I've considered a ZJ clutch just for that... and I have no cooling issues.

Salad, the ZJ clutch is supposedly louder, but I didn't notice a difference in noise. I noticed a huge difference in cooling ability compared to my tired old MJ clutch.

You may be right. If I ever have cooling issues I'd probably research it more through and think about it. One thing for sure alot of cars be today have 1 electric fan

I agree regarding the electric fan, but be careful comparing modern foreign cars to a Jeep. You can't do most of the crap to them as our ol beasts. The AMC inline-six basically goes back fifty years with only slight modifications... we have flat tappet cams buried down at the bottom of the block still. Try bouncing off of rocks across the desert with 500 pounds of armor, a trailer, 15W40 conventional, and a FRAM on a 2013 Mazda 3 and tell me how that works out for you lol.
