When to start it and nothing, checked the battery and its dead. Its only been sitting for a week, why is the battery dead?

I TRIED to go junkyard shopping, but all three are closed today

stupid holiday.

So instead I bought fire extinguisher, headlights (normal, H4 conversion is an idea I've been kicking around), wipers, belt, tranny fluid, and some paint to redo the wiper arms.

Old battery? I've had Walmart batteries NEW that don't last a week!
