Dont laugh, this epoxy from Alvin products is awesome, I use it at work for castings all the time. It will hold up to heat and torque. I patched a hole in a diff with it to get thru once and it worked super.

I wouldn't use it forever, but if its not thru the block and the other two bosses are good, I wouldn't hesitate to use it. U can make a new boss out of it, and drill and tap it.

No laughing here! I had already tried to think of some sort of metal epoxy! thanks! one question, is that area of the block through to any oil passages? for example, could welding there cause it to burn through and block off an oil passage or something like that?

well hell. im gonna have to try that at least, worst case im out a few bucks and STILL screwed just as hard! but not worse. ty for the help.
No prob, I coated some popsicle sticks with that crap, machined them down and they were like steel bars! Its no jb weld for sure! Ur gonna hate me, I just scrapped two 4.0 engines! Lol. Im the same way, my jeeps are my baby's!
