finished up just before going to bed yesterday, so I'm posting now...
1.took off my driver's side remote mirror
2. put it in the oven for 20 minutes @ 350 degrees
3. pulled the glass off of the plastic mounting plate
4. undid the screws holding the plate in
5. discovered what piece actually broke which made said remote quit working
6. took it out and shoved a smooth polished rock in its place
7. Reassembled and secured mirror with Gorilla glue - now waiting for lunch break to see if mirror is holding

MS Paint-mocked a mod im probably going to do, cuz it looks badass on here.
the arrows point to what would be cut off, right up to where the teeth start. the teeth would be taped off and spray painted on. would silver look better, to keep with the blue-silver-orange theme iv got for her, or just the plain, normal white?
