Cleaned the o2 sensor to try to make it run better. Now it runs even worse, and drops to 200rpm at stops almost stalling. Why would this happen?

This will sound stupid but did you put it back in right and connect it right. Take it back out and inspect just in case. Next you can try the IAC too

They are extremely sensitive and fragile. Using any chemicals to clean them will damage them and prevent them from working. I would recommend replacing them over cleaning them.

I did put it in right. I didn't even disconnect it so it can't be reconnected wrong.

What did you clean the o2 sensor with?
Is the engine running rich or is it running lean?
Try resetting the PCM and see what happens. If you get the same results, replace your o2 sensor it might be shorted.

I ran into a downed powerline guy wire today on our way back from Old Man's Cave. Tree had fallen and brought lines down with it. It had just happened. I hit only a guy wire. Not sure even where the electric lines were. Didn't hang to find out. Had to get Nolan to a dr appt. Glad I hit it before one of the hundreds of motorcycles we saw today hit it. Left a good mark on the Jeep. Started chewing through the steele at the top of the front drivers side fender. Glad I was paying attenetion or it could have been much worse! Thank you Lord!!!

I cleaned it with carb cleaner, probably a bad idea. Definitely running rich, I burned almost 1/8 tank in about 13 miles and I can smell the cat converter burning up. I did reset the PCM and it didn't help.

Yeah your o2 sensor is toast lol. Time for a new one. Good thing about XJs is Bosch o2 sensors for them are only $35 a piece
