Default what is this?

It appears to be some sort of sensor or something. It's on the bottom of the battery tray and has wires running to it from one of the harnesses. Anybody know what it could be?

I believe that is the battery temperature sensor. Used by PCM to determine charging rate along with monitored line voltage (according to 99 FSM).

Okay thanks. We ran into it while changing the alternator and were stumped and couldn't figure it out. Thank you for the help
