Check out this eBay auction....1998 Cherokee "rolling chassis"; looks very nice and complete with exception of engine, trans, transfer case, driveshafts. Could be a very efficient way to fix your issues. Car is in Michigan; 1 bid at $400 with less than 3 days left. Worth watching.

I did the same thing, rolled my 98 onto pavement and it totaled the body but everything else was fine so I did exactly what you're doin, I got a clean 2000 xj with a blown trans for $1000 and swapped mine over now it's workin great!

Please do and let me know. My main concern is collision and rust. Minor dents and scratches don't bother me, it won't be a pavement princess.

I guess you're swapping the 5-speed stuff into the new one?

I sure would like to do a 5-speed swap on my Jeep... You should pull it all out, throw it on a pallet and ship it to me on the low.

Come on that black on read is cool, you just need to do some rattle can flames and you are all set with the perfect anti theft system out there

Sucks about the rollover but like others have said, at least you weren't hurt, and the fact that you got a replacement to bolt all your parts to is a big plus.

Yeah, and I'm finding all kinds of new goodies on this thing. I'm still trying to figure out what the electronic box under the driver's seat is...

My XJ came with a remote starter, kind of handy because it didn't come standard with power locks and they added them in with the starter. Only problem I have with the R/S is that there is this little annoying flashing light that I can't get to turn off and if I disconnect it the Jeep wont start even with the key

I still haven't found the actual box for the R/S so I don't know the exact model and what manual to download to figure out that stupid light.

I think I have it identified as the ABS control module. There was a recall to relocate it from there to somewhere inside the console. Apparently this one never got taken in. Jeep recall #860
