Default Welding in a basement garage

I thought this year instead of throwing all my money away gathering parts for someone else to install I'd focus on buying some tools, welder, bender, etc. My house has a full basement and adequate space but I'm a little reluctant to weld inside the basement, the smell and fumes would definitely get upstairs. When this is all you have what can you do? I could set up a bunch of fans to blow out the fumes and smoke I guess but what are some other ideas?

Just get a large industrial type rollaround fan to set by an open door to exhaust it. pulling the air out works better than trying to push it out.

U ll need to hang up 5/8 fireproof drywall (two sheet thickness for ceilings). Because of the sparks that r created by the welding.
And one sheet thickness for walls.

It's a required code for drywalling garages if theres living space above anyway. It got something to do with fumes from running engine on car.

Plus use fans for ventilation.
Better be safe than sorry.

This. Ive welded in my basement, but only had the tiny rectangle windows. so i picked up 6 of the little 10$ desk fans they sell at walmart, and put two in each window, all sucking air out. Ventilated it fine, and i even painted the projects down there too, and they sucked the paint fumes out pretty well too.

My basement does have a one car garage so there is a full size garage door that opens. My basement is also not furnished its solid concrete floor and walls.

Still always a better idea to drywall the ceiling with fire code 5/8 thick drywall. Double thickness. Better safe than be sorry

I'll just gather parts as usual and then wait til I have everything, pay a shop to build my rig and then have them not come through like the last 5-7 years. It's why I haven't wheeled in years, shops making promises then screwing me over.
