Default Warehouse price tires or other tires...

So I could get the Cooper Discover STT ( http://www.treadepot.com/tire/76116.html ) for the warehouse price which would be about $130 a piece instead of the $200+ from online or at a tire store so are these tires worth getting from warehouse then paying to get balanced and what not or should I go with KM2 or DuraTrec full price from a tireshop that will balance them for free. Have not heard much about the Cooper tires all I hear is BFG.

Id call around to different shops to get an idea of what they will charge to mount a balance tires you bring in. It may not be worth it to get the great warehouse price if you have to spend a lot later. I got the Duratracs for the better wet road performance and they are great, but I have heard and read great things about the STT 's off road performance.

This is about right. Also it varies by size and tire type. Big mud tires are harder to balance apparently.

One point, most good tire shops will offer life time rotation and balancing included in the new tire price. That is worth something, as locally it is $25.00 for rotation and balancing.

The STT is a really good tire, the only thing bad I've heard that the side walls are weak, this is not personal experience just what I've heard. The link you posted was for a 17 inch rim, if you plan on wheeling you should go for a taller side wall. 130.00 for that tire instead of 213.00 is the way to go unless the shipping cost is nuts.

Ya that is the main thing I am thinking about there is no shipping because I am picking the tires up straight from the warehouse local. Would the benefits of free tire maitnance be worth it.

70.00 X 4 = $280.00 That savings will pay for 2 new tires at 130.00 per tire. Go for it!

The STT is the best tire for wheeling Cooper makes, I don't know how they do in mud, but they are really great in snow. Wheeled with a guy with 33x12.50 15s aired down to 6 psi he had no problems in snow 2 foot deep.
