Hi guys me and my cousins are planning to spend this coming weekend in vegas initially we were suppose to go together in one of my cousins tahoe, but me and another cousin have to work friday morning so i will have to take my jeep its an 89. Is there any precautions or advise you guys could give me im kind of worried because of the really hot weather this time of year. Also the drive is from L.A. about 4 1/2 hours. Thanks for any advise

 

Make sure your cooling system is in good shape. Check the electric fan and make sure it comes on.

 

x2 cooling system is the biggest precaution for road trips.

i am taking my jeep on a 2 1/2 hour drive one way to go wheeling next weekend and for pre-trip stuff i am doing:

-oil change
-check diff fluid levels
-check tranny fluid
-air pressure in tires
-make sure bolts are tight..haha

thats just what im doing..air pressure is pretty important for gas mileage.

 

Heard its gonna be 120 degrees in vegas im kinda worried.

 

wow thats freakin hot! get some vents or somethin or raise the back of your hood with spacers

 

I drive everyday from L.A. to the san fernando valley where its really hot and it does ok, the only thing that worries me is the climbs going to vegas where the engine will be working harder. Thank you guys for your input
