Default V8 to I6 engine swap

Will an '88 Cherokee Laredo I6 engine go in a '99 Cherokee Limited that has a V8? The V8 is bad and I really like the I6 so I want to swap, what else do I need to do? Computer, tranny? I suppose I can swap the complete drive train from one to the other?

You're probably talking about a grand cherokee. Cherokees never came with a v8.

Anything is possible with enough money. That being said, it doesn't bolt together. Swap in another v8

...........do you mean grand Cherokee? There is a difference and we don't like the people who don't properly distinguish them........

Jk probably have to swap the entire drive train as the GRAND Cherokees with V8 had the 430 something something tranny and ours(xj/cherokee) have the aw4 transmission. And the zj(grand Cherokee) with the 4.0L had the something-something tranny that would work and fit.

Search!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck lol

Entire drivetrain and wiring harness and the 88 is the Renix. If you are swapping in a 4L get a HO motor. And the Grand tranny is a 42re and the XJ is a AW4. You'd be loosing a decent bit of power and torque. Best to find another V8.

Yes, the I6 is from Cherokee, the V8 vehicle is the Grand. Thanks for the reply.
