anyone have any experience with a turbo charged cherokee? saw a video, and it was quite interesting, tried to google search but came up short. just looking for thoughts

Check out 505performance.com for the turbo in that video. Looks pretty badass.

 

I dont have any experience but on the other forum a guy has an AMC Spirit with a 4.0 with turbo that he drag races.

theres a guy on cherokeetalk.com named pandorasbox he has a grand national turbo on his cherokee.

 

That vid is our friends in the "sand box" using that good'ol oil money to make some sweet rides.

But a turbo would be fun if you feel like fabing up all the little parts.

Hmmm, and I was thinking about stroking my spare motor... Maybe I'll do a turbo instead...

i was thinking about boost too but i am having a hard time finding info... like fuel managament and what not. looking for outside insight.

its lifted 11 inches, 35 inch tires, dana 44s, low gearing, yata yata, he kept up with a STI from 1st to 3rd gear

 

I'm big in to Saturns and a lot of the guys I know have turbo'd theirs, there simply are no turbo "kits" or what ever. We always end up doing pretty much a stand alone FMS (fuel management system). A lot of times, a souped up ignition system is in the works too.

Seems like it's pretty similar for Cherokees, I'd say your looking at either a piggyback FMS or a whole stand alone. Ignition is easy, I'm sure MSD makes stuff for the 4.0

Look in to a Megasquirt system if you have time (and the money....)

Probably going to have to have a header custom made, or if you can weld good, modify a pacesetter or something like that...
