Default Trucks! on Spike TV - '84-96 XJ fender/grill upgrade

FYI the TV show Trucks! on SpikeTV had an episode today (part of a 6 episode series) about a Cherokee budget rebuild project. Who here saw it? I think it gets replayed on Sunday too (set your DVRs!!).

Anyway they gave a 1987 Cherokee a facelift using '97+ fenders and grill. Has anyone tried this? It looked pretty sweet! My '96 Cherokee needs a new drivers side fender and grill and I am thinking about what (if any) mods it would take to give my XJ a more modern look.

If anyone has done this let me know!!

Thanks

If you search here or NAXJA.org you'll find a good amount of info. I think its a direct bolt on pretty much.

This is actually a pretty common swap and I agree with FlexdXJ that it is pretty straight forward swap.

The header panel replacement is cake. The fender replacement is a little more in volved but, pretty straight forward. I currently have the 97+ headner panel, jsut got some matching fenders to flush up the lines in the front. The newer header is rounded on the top edges and and older fenders are angled. But the newer fenders will bolt right up.
