Trouble finding the proper wiring harness for stereo upgrade...
So I bought a new head unit and a wiring harness. The first one I ordered has two separate plugs but the harness behind my head unit is one rectangular plug with two rows of female slots. I have a 1996. I went to best buy in order to find the right one and it was the same one....so I grabbed another one for Jeeps (newer models) because it looked more like the shape I need and had no luck.
Does anyone know the correct harness from a retailer, online or not?
I am debating just cutting the harness off as I assume I will own the car until it's dead. Even if I don't I can reconnect the stock head unit in easily with wire nuts etc. The only thing holding me back from that is not knowing what each of the wires is for.
Open to all suggestions, thanks!

how do I indentify what the other wires are? I have a toner that I could use for the speakers, but ideally I would have the diagram...

I have one... but it would be the same price for you to just buy a new one.

I agree, just make your own. Your install manual for the aftermarket head unit should have a wiring diagram, and you can find diagrams on the internet for the factory harness if the wires arent labeled. You can make one yourself quicker than the time it would take to run to Best Buy. Just give it a shot, if you have any problems, post some pics and ask for help on here.

On my 96 I couldn't get one either, so I made my own. If you still have the factory radio, it will have the pinout of the stock harness printed on it. That+soldering iron+new stereo harness=homemade wiring harness that works perfect.
