Is triple A worth it?
I've got a 2000 cherokee. I drive from N. Carolina to Fort lauderdale about twice a year. My jeep(4.0L) has never let me down but it's got 210,000 mi. I've heard that basic triple A takes forever for a tow truck to show up. The only time I would need AAA is when out of state traveling. Is it worth it?
Love the forum, lots of knowledge, fixed my windows and front end grinding, thanks.

I carry basic tools and small floor jack. I have not had to do an on the road repair in a long time. Well not counting on the trail.. But I fix peoples cars all the time on the side of the road when they are waiting for AAA. Some people (MILFS) will be waiting for over 45 min for them to came change a tire. You ask me its worthless. A few tools is all you need.

I wouldn't spend the money on it. The money spent on AAA every month just in case something happens could be better spent when and if something does happens. All you have to do is take a peek under the hood once a week to check fluid levels and if you spot a problem fix it right away. Neglect will leave you stranded, being villigent will keep you going.

^^ This.
Nothing against AAA or people who have it, it's a great service. But when I used to have it on my Wrongler (which did always need it) my Premium plan was 100 miles free towing, which on a road trip would be useful, but theres always the logistics of what happens when you get there. i.e a hotel, etc etc. Always a good rule of thumb to keep an eye on fluids, tire pressures, including spare, and keep up on regular maintenance.
