i should have bought stock in PB Blaster. I have moved on to a pentrating oil by my fav XJ lubrication company, ProLong . They have a super penetrating oil that exceeds PBBlaster strength if you can fathom that. I know of that because every 3000 miles I add thier HD Oil Stabilizerr to my Inline6's ...

and fwiw, yep; these being a PITA pale in comparison to leafspring bolts I have known. Or shackle bolts. Arg!

I strayed from my reason for replying.

Maybe I should mention again that these bolts have always been no real issue for me on my newer Jeeps. I slap 'em outta my JK like they were cokecan openers. but these were in since Jeep put them in in the factory back in Oct. of 1995 + they have 386,000 miles on those 12point bolts that affix them to my knuckles.
Take a look at what was up in there.
In lower right flang in photo on unitbearing you can see the bolt that had rust in threads and I finally broke free. It is the leftmost one up in top image wherer they are all standing like boling pins laughing at my stressing all eve.
whatever,I won,ya stupid fookin bolts.

'was absolutely NO lube or functionality in the gasket that remained. It deteriorated if I touched wherer it mates to the Axle flange, lol.

big image alert:

Somebody might get a kick on this Friday out of knowing that I wass only doing this swap because my wife did not listen to me and had one tire swapped around on the wheel as I had asked her at a local tire shop and she DID NOT TELL THEM NOR WATCH THEM SO THEY DIDN'T USE AN AIR WRENCH ON THE STEEL WHEELS

but they did, cross threaded two studs and when I went to rotate the tires a month later, I discovered the lug were useless*sigh*
so I was gonna quickly swap out the hub bearings like ,real fast, like I can on my JK.
famous last words of Cherokee Owners: "It'll take me a few hours, tops, honey.
HA!

Yeah-those lugs were really torqued on. Don't know why anyone does that anymore. I like the picture of your "arsenal" all over the floor (wire brush, pliers, impact and regular sockets, hammer etc. I find that every time I work on the Jeep, I use almost every tool I have.

I did the ones on my daughter's rust free Florida 90 XJ and thought, "Boy, what a fun and easy job"

Then I did the ones on my 96 Michigan XJ, and to this day, I still believe it was one of the most difficult things I've done on that particular vehicle. (Changing the leaf springs has to be number one, but this wasn't far off)

Here was my experience. You can hear me panting throughout the whole video because EVERY SINGLE BOLT fought me ever step of the way! Anti-seize is my newest bestest friend in the whole world.
