Battery powered impacts and ratchets are where it's at now. Four hundred bucks new, but totally worth it.

I bought the top of the line craftsman impact wrench with led and lithium battery. That thing is awesome for the price, $100ish.

I have an Ingersol Rand 20volt impact that I use everyday at work. I love it! I never use my air tools anymore.

For sockets, get impact not chrome, why have duplicates?
A 30" 1/2 sq drive breaker bar.
I use an electric impact, years old, on sale for under $60
Get sockets with clear large size markings, my eyesight is getting fuzzy like my brain.
A 3 lb persuader hammer.
Long and short pry bar.
8" - 12" sliding bar clamp, handy for lots, like pushing caliper pistons back in at break job
A 12 point 13mm socket, you will have to change those bearing hubs.
An good strength extendible magnet.
A good propane torch. If it won't budge, heat it.
You've got an XJ, some stuff never been touched since the factory, you will have some struggles.
Anti-seize, the favour you do for yourself in the future.
A torque wrench that will do your 175 lb front axle centre nuts back up.
Lots of luck and a little patience. Helpers are priceless, treat them well!
Buy a good size stackable tool box that you can expand upon.
