Window tint absolutely is a deterrent. If a thief walks by 2 cars, one has a backpack on the seat, and one is tinted with dark windows. He is 100% is going to steal what he knows he can get - the backpack. He isn't going to break into a car without really having a motive or any clue of what's inside.

I assume your next suggestion is to buy a Honda civic because they are less noticeable? My truck is definately modded, no doubt about it.

With no tint on the windows, I can't even leave an emergency jacket in my car because crackheads will steal it. Even with dark tint, it's obvious that I care about my vehicle and will inherently have something of value inside, but they don't have a clue because it's tinted really dark.

Just my $.02
Dude you literally hit THE EXACT same points I did. So I am not crazy? You are officially better than 90% on the internet.

OK, slooooooooooooooooooooooowly this time.

Don't leave anything you want to keep in a vehicle! Tint is in no way a deterrent at all.
I know everyone wants to put the 007 twist on the thief, but a tweeker thats been up for a week whose ultimate goal is a bindle of meth probably won't win any awards for clear and logical thinking.

I think many of you must be unaware of what'[s happening here in the US not a foreign country. New police policies are in effect on not only having 2 officers respond to each call or traffic stop, very good reason for that.

No one would approach a car with dark tinted windows period so the driver and passengers are asked to exit car with hands up then on the ground. This applies even to minor traffic infractions as they have no idea who or how many are in the car. The deaths to officers from traffic stops is very high and even higher now, I know of 6 officers killed during this type of stop this year 4 of them from behind tinted windows, 3 from back seat driver side.

A lot of things to consider to keep everyone safe in all cases and yourself on the ground being handcuffed for a ticket once all is sorted out.

It actually looks a lot darker in the video than in real life. Never had a problem in Ohio with tint (had many tinted vehicles over the years). I think tinting fines here are handed out as a secondary offense if you get pulled over for something else.

Thanks. I really could only tell the difference inside with respect to glare...much less with the tint!

I guess that's another reason why its nice that the interior lights in my XJ are brighter than in my house (about 800 lumens from the front dome light (same as a 60w bulb), and about 1600 lumens in the rear (same as 2 60w bulbs).

At night time I just put the lights on and the tint looks "normal" darkness. In the daytime I usually roll my windows down before I even pull off the road so they don't think so much about the darkness of my tint (probably best practice in regards to not getting shot out-of-the-blue)

So the solution to that problem is don't act like a thug, and dont act shady as **** - and you won't get shot for no reason (although with how corrupt and brazen cops are these days, even that is up-in-the-air. They only need to lie and say their life was threatened, and all sins are forgotten).

Cops can act all scared - I am not a threat, and that is readily apparent as soon as they make eye contact with me and begin a dialogue - even when they are approaching the vehicle. Never once had a problem with this, even with dark skin.
Now I do have a problem with cops lying and being less than truthful in regards to what I am legally obligated to comply with - but that will never change, so I just stick to being polite but not bending to their whim and fancy unless legally obligated.

I understand that in our current world - police reprocussion is a legitimate concern, but in my own little world it really has no place, nor will I bend to senseless laws without at least putting up my own fight.

I would say let bygones be bygones, you leave your windows untinted and car barren - and I will keep my recovery gear a bit safer by keeping it out of sight and enjoy my privacy.

All of the windows in my ZJ are tinted, I love the privacy and less glare in the cabin. I was recently driving a loaner car since my JKU was having some body work done. It was a VW Golf TSi sport wagon with untainted windows, hated being on display for all to see. I still need to tint the front windows on the Rubicon.
My buddy at work has an Audi A4 that is all tinted up, even the windshield! Looks absolutely awesome from the outside and is relaxing on the inside. It doesn't hamper the outward visibility as much as you would think, but I still wouldn't recommend doing it.

Did I ever say my windows weren't tinted they are but common sense and abiding by state laws advise me about how much and where.

My friend I spent quite a few yrs. as a LEO and take personal offence to part of your statements, but after some thought decided to just write them off as being a very young person. Possibly in college and one who looks for safe zones where they hear and see nothing they don't like nor understand. One thing though do look up what a lawful order is and what your required to do.

This answers so many questions on mine

As someone of "law enforcement" you sure lack the online maturity. This last section was completely unnecessary. Of course LEOs could shoot the president yet another one would never say they did wrong, only that they "had a lapse of judgement."

Also, since everyone is sharing unnecessary information and this thread is WAY of topic, I personally love police and have many police friends. To say police act correct all the time and it's a young person's fault because they didn't act accordingly all the time is a huge stereotype.

Not trying to be offensive - I just deeply distrust law enforcement based on my previous experiences.

Alot of LEO's are thoughtful and intelligent human beings, and at least attempt to rationalize/understand the laws they enforce.

Unfortunately the majority I have been in direct contact with are manipulative, extremely rude bordering on harassment

Example; I was moving one of my cars for street sweeping (non-running 89' Notchback). Cops pulled up and the younger one tried to give me a ticket for non-registered/insured vehicle on the road (I wasn't even sitting in the car). Then he made me go inside and get the title and spent 10 minutes "verifying" it while he made me stand in front of my car. Treated me like crap the whole time, treated me like I was guilty of stealing a car and trying to drive an unregistered vehicle on the street and wouldn't even listen to what I was saying (was looking around like he was in Mosul or something, and not standing on my front lawn which I retreated onto).

Older cop pulled up and let me go luckily - that guy was polite and even apologized after telling me to have a nice evening. Not judging all cops, but unfortunately I too am "prejudiced"

I mostly adhere to laws unless they are utterly pointless and affecting my free-will (non harmful manner). I will adhere to staying on the trail - that makes sense. Speeding on public roads - that makes sense. Not murdering people, that also makes sense.

I will not adhere to laws such as Window Tint (within reason), Radar Detectors (I just don't agree with it), Loud exhaust on a car I drive ~200 miles a year, Nitrous (again, none of their business as long as I don't use it on public roads), Drag Radials on the street (Seriously, you are going to ticket me for that, when the beat to crap car next to me has tires that are ready to explode at a moments notice)

Just a few examples. Definitely did not mean to be offensive specifically, but do disagree with tint laws because they are frivolous.

i like dark tinted windows. I've had a slew of cars with windows tinted much darker than law allows. I don't live in crime ridden areas. I rarely get pulled over, maybe once every 3 years. I've never had an issue with window tint. I agree backing up at night can be tough sometimes, but nothing that can't be overcome by rolling down a window or 2.

to the op: looks good.
