Been thinking about parting with my 87 XJ for a fresh new project.
4.0 and body has a little over 200,000 miles and runs strong, engine is quiet.
What I've done..
6.5 RC LA kit.
Clayton track bar 5/8 bolt and drop bracket welded.
Built front bumper myself tied into steering box, winch has pulled more than the vehicle weight with no issues.
Optima red top.
Iron man motor mounts.
CSF HD radiator, and cooling system conversion.
AX15 with external slave bell.
NP 231
Advance adaptors SYE.
Ford U bolt conversion on rear yoke.
8.25 welded.
D30 with lock right locker.
Raised fuel tank.
Unknown rear tube bumper that looks cool..
Rectangle tube rocker slides and skids welded rocker to frame rails.
Body has been rewired and not much behind the dash except a fuse block on pass side under glove box.
Has all critical engine gauges.
Winch can be operated from driver seat with out controller.
Still has stock gearing though.. Never got around to that, aways used 4L anyways.
ZJ tie rod up grade but it bent anyways lol
I built a over kill center console with a lock and key.
I think that's about it. I know it's a mess but its been sitting. Still starts and drives and what's there works.
Let the bashing begin!

I think I'll have to agree. The body is pretty rough. You could make more parting it and scraping the body than you could selling it whole.
If I hadn't just upgraded to a late model I'd be all over those quarter guards.

Yea I built those quarters, that's one of my favorite things about the XJ.
So alright then, I guess I'll just kick the windshield out and build a roll cage inside the cab and keep it for the body mangling trails.

What kind of project were you looking for? Might be able to throw it on CL and trade for what you want.
Other than that I think you should rock it 'til the wheels fall off, then fix em and then rock it 'til the frame rots.

Wanted to see if I could trade it for a stock unmolested Comanche.

Know what, I'll just keep it, and use the repair plate and drive to the trails. I'll look for a manche FS around my area.
It would be fun to keep a trail beater anyways.
Honestly I've been getting tired of looking at it, like its an eyesore in my driveway lol that's why I parked it with the bad side to the fence.
The body is pretty hurt.. Tailgate is ready to fall apart on the next obstacle despite all the center stiffening I've done. I removed the rear windows because I did not wanna litter the trails with glass, it's a old ***** but still capable lol.
Tell ya what.. The rain gutters and roof rack are great tree slides!
