Im looking at getting a set of super swamper tsl radial tires since yokohama recently quit making the geolander mt plus :/. So I figured the TSLs would be a pretty good choice. I wanted to see who runs them and how they perform on/off the road and how they wear. Also if any one has a suggestion on any other mud terrain tire feel free to share it. Im open to hear any suggestion yall have. I just have to find them cheap enough lol .

 

They won't last as long as other tires on road, but provide superior traction off-road.

 

I had some 32 TSL radials on my ZR2. They did perform great offroad. They weren't as noisy or ruff as my 34 LTB bias. They actually rode pretty good, but they won't last long if you're on the highway much.

 

I drive 10 miles a day to and from work (5 days a week) and maybe 25 miles on the weekends when Im riding around town. I was looking at the federal couragia mts but heard alot of people say that the side walls would blow out on them.

 

How was your tread wear on them?

 

Probably get close to 20k out of a set of radial swampers unless you hot rod it around constantly.

I liked the TSL radials I had on a truck of mine. I didnt drive it much on the road, but offroad they were pretty good tires. I didnt keep them long enough to wear them out though, sold them and went to a bigger tire.
FWIW, my favorite set of Super Swampers I ever had were the Irok radials. They did great offroad and lasted longer than any other Swamper I've had. Took them off after roughly 30k miles, and still had enough tread left to go maybe another 5k or so.

 

Kool jw what would the benefit of running bias ply be

 

If it sees the road you don't want a bias tire, or anything that says interco.

I guess I should revise that, if its a dd I wouldn't run any kind of swampers. If it sees the street I wouldn't run bias swampers.

 

Get goodyear mt/r kevlar's.

 

Thicker side walls, tougher tread, better traction. They are mostly terrible on the road though.

 

I drive mine on the street on bias plies, I wouldn't DD it though for sure. The tires just wouldn't last very long. I don't mind the jarring ride or excessive noise.

Interco makes radials for people who want max traction offroad who also drive on the street. Would I buy them for a mostly street driven rig? No.
I have driven on radial swampers as well, and they are like a regular tire except louder. The ride is real smooth.

Bias tires are tougher. You can get more aggressive tread patterns in bias tires too.
They get flat spots though when the truck sits around, and dont ride quite as smooth. And usually wear a little quicker.
Throughout the years, Ive run every Swamper made, always on my daily driven rigs. Theyre really not bad, I almost prefer bias tires, even on my dd. But, money has been an issue for me lately, so Ive been running radials for lower cost and longer tread life. Although offroad performance isnt anywhere close to the Swampers. But there are pros and cons to both radial and bias. Most people prefer radials, and wont deal with the slightly worse street manners of a bias.
