Alright I got it and was driving homr and it started to die on me so I pulled over snd the ait box and filter was soaked in oil I know it wasnt like that last night when I drove it then I started it back and it conpletly died I finapy.limped it home got it in the garage now tryin to figure out wgat the hells goin on seems to me like its starting to blow

 

Well I got it and I think it blew up on the way home it started missing and died I pulled the air box cover and it was full of oil its smoken real bad to I finaly got itnstarted back up but doesnt want to run got it to the garage gona start checkin it out

 

Sounds like it needs a motor. Just put a motor in a 94 myself. It's not to bad mostly time consuming.

 

Thats what its starting to look like didnt realy want to hafta do that this soon

Well it sounded like a lifter peck were it had been sittin my other xj has had a tap for years and still runs strong lol heck I dont care tho itll he a nice jeep when its done

 

Well it wasnt a lifter pec that was cousing the miss. Just got the head out and the cyclinder that was dead has a chunk missing and had a bent push rod

 

I'll bet the seller was sweating bullets, at least it didn't deep six during your "test drive".

even at that cost getting a cheap used 4.0 would still be worth it in my eyes

 

Well I got the motor out tonight looks like my motor is a ***** and has been into a few times so should be inreresting to see how bad it realy is once I get it on the stand looks like ill be finding another motor to build
