Yup. Right again. The main differences was the accessories. Some used Chevy parts, some used Ford. The 4.0L is nothing more than a destoked 4.2 (258) with EFI and better flowing cylinder head. Just mine came out of a tractor and instead of a vehicle. Lol.

So install a ported EFI 4.0 head on the 258, be a hell of an engine.

Look up 4.0 stroker with 4.2 crank, rods, & pistons.

Internets searching only shows the AMC engines in Scouts and other 70s trucks. What did you pull yours from?

I hate this! I always have to tell people, there is more to wheeling, then just mudding. They don't have to clean up afterwards either.

Comment I can see, my jeep has no doors cut and fold fenders with mudflap flares. My reply is always since when is a jeep supposed to be classy?

all mud is good for is destroying u-joints, ball joints, bushings, and causing rust and rot...don't get me wrong I like to play in it, but it's a sure fire way to kill your jeep, especially if you have non-greasable joints to push the mud and water out. id rather wheel on rock and washout climbs.

Had a guy tell me this yesterday as I asked a question inside autozone the guys said(this isnt even the autozone guy just some random joe)

Him: what year cherokee is it?
me: 93
him: Ohh thats your problem then
me: really whys that!
him: Cause anything from 95 down in garbage cause thats when they changed the body style and a bunch more stuff.
me: Actually they changed the body style and "all that stuff" in 97 if im not mistaken...
him: looks at me nodes his head and walks off

 

i had a co-worker say this to me today after hearing about my rig catching fire twice now
