Default These any real protection?

Ive been likeing the look of the diamond plate on Jeeps for a while and i was thinking of doing it to my XJ. But do these plates offer any real protection? And does anyone know how they mount?

I'm sure they won't hold up to heavy abuse(smashing rocks and what not) There is a build thread here on a search and rescue rig. Use the search feature and type in search and rescue. It'll pop up. The guy made his own diamond plate panels.

If you're talking about diamond plate on the bottom of the doors and the rockers, then yeah I made a set of those myself, as did the guy who Modestmike was talking about.
As far as real protection...they're better than having nothing there but they definitely don't take the place of rock sliders lol. If I hadn't gotten the diamond plate reeally cheap I wouldn't have made them and I definitely wouldn't have paid what Warrior wants for a set. That being said they do look sick , and, though I haven't tested this yet, MAYBE -IF you wrap em around the bottom of the rocker- they would give you enough support to hi-lift from without crushing/denting your rocker...MAYBE.

That's my 2 cents.

forgot to mention I attached mine with pop rivets, but you can also use self-tapping screws

It seems like most people that I have seen with them use em' to cover up rust quarter panels. My buddy has some on his wrangler and they are more for looks I think; not much for protection.
